Buy Bayh!

I have been a Democrat since I first started voting at 21 and I have seen some people who ran for office as a democrat who were no better than snake-oil salesmen. I chose not to vote for them. I have voted for Republicans that I thought were progressive and not reactionaries, but I am really disappointed in our current U.S. Senator from Indiana, no, not Richard Lugar whom I have supported even though I disagree with some of his stances. I speak of the Junior Senator from Indiana, Evan Bayh.

Oh, he is a natural politician. His father, Birch, was Senator from Indiana. He has served two terms as Governor in a heavily Republican State. Fiscally conservative they say and liberal on social issues. Pretty good for Indiana.

But lately, I am convinced that Mr. Bayh is a DINO. I am truely concerned with his milk-toast support for health care legislation and for me, this is very important. What I see Mr. Bayh doing is holding a gun to his party's head to try and get his vote. I don't know what he wants! Perhaps it is because of his connection with the health care industry! His wife serves on lots of boards of directors that are a who's who of special interests. I am just really concerned with his luke-warm support for this important legislation. I suspect Mr. Bayh will not get my vote next time. He is a DINO! He comes out of the wood-work just before election time to tell everyone all he is doing, but on this one issues, he has vascillated back and forth; trying to see which view will get him the most traction. Yup! Evan will not get my vote at this rate. I probably won't vote for the Republican but the Libertarian Party will probably get my vote. At least I know where they stand. I can't count on Bayh to support any issue without wanting something for his support.

I cannot believe politician!

Can you believe the democratic candidate for Lt. Gov. was arrested for impersonating a legislator? He apparently was drunk with a 21 year old women (maybe)and since the legislature was in session, and they cannot be arrested during a session unless they kill someone, he tried to pass himself off as a legislator, of which he was before the last election. The last time I heard of a legislator doing this was when one of them was pissing in the parking lot of the legislature at night...apparently alcohol was involved, go figure!

Actually, I should not be surprised! Since Obama has been elected the news cycle is so boring that they have to find something to report and since the media is control by entertainment moguls, they want a side-show broadcast. Just look at Gov. Sanford of S.C. How much do you really want to know about this guys love life? An then there is Sen. Ensign's love life, etc. I am sure there are politicians thankful for the entertainment machine's prostituting and sensationalizing the death of Michael Jackson so they can get out of the limelight!

But alas, the dog days of summer will end and then the entertainment/news industry can find something else to drag out far longer than decent people need to hear. Maybe we can find a war involving North Korea or a good scandal where some teacher is having sex with her/his entire class -- yup! We haven't done that for a while!

And the news goes on!

Family Values - Southern Style!

I don't care if you are a Republican or a Democrat, unless you wrap yourself in cloke of Holier-than-thou cloth and blame the other guy for not having family values. Enough already with this hypocracy!

What a bunch of Cowards

Well the other day the senate passed a resolution expressing their concern that terrorist would be release in their states. Shock and Awl. Some even objected to the taxpayers having to pay for these terrorist in American jails. Outrage!

Well, the cowards once again showed that the election season is on and they don't have the guts to stand-up for our nations principles. We have terrorist in our jails in the U.S. and they haven't escaped yet! These are high-security jails! These cowards are just afraid that their opponent in the next election (whether Republican or Democrat) will run adds of the "Willy Horton" style against them. I though Carl Rove left government? Fear mongers and cowards! I think we should vote them all out of office and put someone in who THINKS and is LOGICAL and IS NOT AFRAID OF GETTING RE-ELECTED. Maybe we do need Term Limits!

So it goes!

Supremes!

No, I am not talking about the singing group; I am talking about the Supreme Court and it looks like Barack Obama will get to name his first supreme court justice. I suspect there will be more to come. My advise, as I am sure he is waiting to hear from me, is pick a woman, pick an Hispanic, pick someone who can think logically, and pick someone who is left of center but not too left.

That should narrow the field down to at least 100,000 or so. Good Luck, Barrack! I know the "Just say no" crowd is waiting for your pick!

Let them leave!

While in San Antonio last week, I heard on the TV that the Governor of Texas was "thinking out loud" about leaving the union. He said in 1845 they had the right to leave, so he thought Texas just might/ought too/ shouldn't leave the union. He gave the speech at the TEA bag rally and couldn't really say anything else that got the crowds roaring! Governor Perry is apparently in a close race with Kay Bailey-Hutchinson in the Fall, and he just want the "good ole boys" to know how he felt. I suspect he felt so strongly about this that he took a big portion of the stimulus package and held his nose when he did it:-)
If I were Obama, I think I would tell them to go ahead and leave the union; cut off all their government largess and move the damned wall north a few hundred miles. Of course, then Texas would be bombarded by other nations wanting to extradite "W" to their countries for War Crimes! Yup! I think we should make a one-time exception to the Civil War an let those blow-harts try it on their own.

Very clever, Obama!

Everybody seems to be all upset that Obama replaced the CEO and the Board of Directors at GM. I personally think it was a great move. First, they weren't doing their job and as one of the biggest shareholders we had a right to complain. Secondly, after investing all that money on Wall Street and not getting much of a "bang for our buck," Obama needed to send a message to the Fat Cats! Do you think they were worried about legislation coming out of Congress? I doubt it! They own those boys. But suddenly one of their own, albeit in another industry, gets canned, it gets their attention. In fact, I suddenly read where a number of banks were giving back the money they borrowed (with interest) because they did not want to be told what to do. Well, talk about an elitist bunch of millionaires. I would say Obama got their attention. They need to be more concerned about main street (the little guys) than looking out for themselves. O.K.! It's a populist point of view, but what the Commodore said over a century ago is still part of the culture: The public be damned!

The days of operating in a vacuum are over. There is a place for the "Public Interest". And when what you do effects the public interest, it is not the stockholder or the CEO who should determine what is the Public's Interest, but someone who is big enough to represent the people. Of course, we also need to regulate the damned lobbyist and the money they spend helping politicians get elected, but I have hope for a new day!
